Very few cars offer an experience that is truly one of a kind. Born in 1961 by Carroll Shelby, who requested AC to fit an 8 cylinder engine into his Ace, Shelby went to Chevrolet to source an engine, and was denied due to Chevrolet not wanting to have a Corvette competitior. He then went to Ford who was happy to supply him with their new Windsor 221 cubic inch V8. AC fitted it in, and the models that followed gained increases in displacement and horsepower until the mighty 427 Cobra was concieved. The original, with 485 Hp in competition trim, was able to hit 0-60 in 4.0 seconds and a top speed of 185 Mph. This re-creation before you today does not have 485 hp. Its engine has been built up to 480 cubic inches, and dyno'd to 580 fuel injected rear wheel horsepower by Gromm Racing in San Jose California. Perfect for if you live in an area with alot of hills, or if you find that your life is not exciting enough , even after 16 cups of coffee. Combine this 8 cylinder nuclear bomb to a full tubular framed chassis, rack and pinion steering, 4 piston disc brakes, 9" currie rear end and a Tremec 5 speed transmission, you have exactly the recipe to fear that Shelby originally concocted.
